31st Annual BACCN Conference 2016

e-ICU can be interpreted for our conference title as the ever increasing "electronic world" where some units utilise virtual world technology for expert advice and training, for electronic systems including electronic notes/rosters and more regular use of email e-news and online bulletin board systems.

In this increasingly technologically heavy (advanced) world, the nature of care, and nursing, has not changed over the years as the teams caring for patients continue to require empathic human therapeutic approaches - verbally, non-verbally and at times physically through touch (hand holding etc). Users (all staff) of this eWorld still need to communicate and care with human, non-electronic compassion. Conference will explore this topic from the perspective of patient, family and carer.
